CASY Counsellors Core training
This is a brief overview of the training available to you as a Qualified Counsellor engaged by CASY – For Trainee placement Counsellors, these workshops will be compulsory.
CORE Webinars
We ask that you attend all core training at CASY (there are exceptions please email j.cosic@casy.org.uk).
Starting out as a trainee can be quite anxiety inducing especially if we have just entered the counselling world. With this training we aim to help you when you are starting out as a counsellor.
These are free of charge while you are at CASY and are designed to support your growth and development as a counsellor.
Topics covered:
- Safeguarding: Understanding and working within the limits of CASY’s safeguarding policy. This unit is compulsory to both Qualified and Trainee Counsellors.
- Beginnings and endings: Equipping counsellors to gain a better understanding of beginning and ending’s within short term work. This unit is optional for Qualified counsellors and Compulsory for trainee counsellors.
- Suicide: Equipping practitioners to respond with sensitivity, confidence, and care. While we strongly encourage all counsellors to attend the webinar, this unit is optional for Qualified Counsellors, and Compulsory for Trainee Counsellors.
- Self-harm: Supports counsellors in developing a compassionate and informed approach to working with self-harm. While we strongly encourage all counsellors to attend the webinar, this unit is optional for Qualified Counsellors, and Compulsory for Trainee Counsellors.
- Pre-trial therapy: Gaining a better understanding of the CPS guidance surrounding pretrial therapy. This unit is compulsory to both Qualified and Trainee Counsellors.
- Core competencies course for working with CYP: this course will lay the foundation for working with children and young people.
